Principle 5d: "Control and eradicate non-native or genetically modified organisims harmful to native species and the environment, and prevent introduction of such harmful organisms."
From 20 -30 September 2019 it is Global Week to #Act4SDGs, the Sustainable Development Goals which might be considered the ‘business’ version of the Earth Charter Principles. For more information on the SDGs, see the Universal Human Rights page.
In March 2019, Earth Charter International launched an appeal for:
A New Earth Ethic
Amidst all of the populism, nationalism, and violence on the rise around the globe, it is important now more than ever, to promote a new earth ethic, an ethic of love, global peace, harmony, and unity. With more and more outbreaks of war, violation of liberties and corruption, there is a strong urgency to revisit our values and ethics and to develop empathy towards the care of our natural ecosystems, for those less fortunate, fleeing from poverty, violence, natural disasters, and climate change.
We invite you to embrace the 2019 Earth Charter International slogan, “Towards a New Earth Ethic”, and to inspire others in recognizing the commonalities rather than the differences among each other.
